The Portuguese however slammed his players for their many missed chances and complacency in the second half — a display he referred to as playing ‘Playstation football’.
The Red Devils finished sixth in the league last season, but made it to the elite league after securing the Europa league title to crown a successful season.
Goals from Marouane Fellaini, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford sealed a comfortable win for the home side.
“Three points are important at home. Until 2-0 we were very stable, we played with confidence”, Mourinho said after the win.
“After 2-0 everything changed, we stopped playing seriously and stopped making right decisions. We could have put ourselves in trouble.

In the other game in Group A, CSKA Moscow came from behind to beat Benfica 2-1 in Portugal.
