'Northern govs' should stop clamour for 2019 presidency'The Chairman of Northern People Political Vanguard (NPPV), Tondo Joseph, has advised Governors of northern States in the country to stop clamouring for the 2019 presidency.

Joseph said on Wednesday in Makurdi that those northern governors already agitating for the foremost seat of power in the country should rather shelve their ambitions at this point and support the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to excel in the remaining days of his tenure.

"Northern Governors should stop clamouring for 2019 presidency but rather support the Buhari led administration to succeed. They should stop distracting him for now," Joseph said.

He appreciated the Buhari's government policies in different sector of the economy as well as the fight against corruption but urged the administration to step up the game by letting Nigerians know how much benefits had accrued to them from the human face policies.

Joseph who is also the Benue State Chairman of Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) has appealed to youths in the state to shun the idea of insulting elders on social media platforms and vote candidates based on their antecedents not political parties in the next general election.

While expressing optimism that opposition parties would do well in states in the coming 2019 elections, the chairman called for fervent prayer for leaders at various levels in the country to enable them deliver dividends of democracy to the electorates in fulfilment of their campaign promises.
