ANAMBRA GUBER: Nollywood actor Edochie joins race, picks DPC ticket
Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, who is the son of veteran movie star, Pete Edochie, is gradually inching towards his dream of becoming the next governor of Anambra State. The young actor has grabbed the governorship ticket of the Democratic Peoples Congress (DPC) to contest on its platform for the forthcoming November 18 governorship election in the state. Reports say Yul picked the party’s ticket after he was elected by a 140-man delegate of the party, by voice votes monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Speaking after he was handed the party’s ticket to run for the election, Yul pledged to stamp out poverty and also ensure youth empowerment if he is elected as governor of the state. Edochie, who only declared his intention for the exhaled seat two months ago, joins a growing list of entertainers like Desmond Elliot, Kanayo Kanayo and Dayo Adeneye who have delved into politics. While some have been so far successful, a number of them have fallen by the roadside, and ditches the dream. Edochie, will be facing a number of old timers in the race for who occupies the Awka Government House come November, including the current governor, Willie Obiano (APGA) Tony Nwoye (APC) and Oseloka Obaze (PDP) among others.
